I love my newly bought "old" bike.
Bought it at a car boot sale last week (their version of an organized mass garage sale, aka ukayukay) for only 35 GBP, roughly around <2500 pesos.
Not bad, given its quality and good condition.
I cannot remember the exact time I had my own bike. I was around 12 years old then, I think. I remember my red BMX bike, a hand-me-down from my Kuya Jason. I loved it. And had many fond memories of it. (Plus the countless scars, wounds, and other stupidity I did with my red BMX. But it was still fun! Daredevil stuff is hardcore for a pre-teenager kid like me, hehe)
Unfortunately, I woke up the next day to not see it in its usual place in the garage. Silly me, I forgot to lock the chains, and then it went *poof!*, Mr. AkyatBahayGangMember had one on me. No, I didn't cry. But I was heartbroken. I envy my playmates with their bikes.
All I did after that was "angkas" on their bikes.

So now whenever I ride my "BattleHopper", inspired by the Japanese Hero Series "Mask Rider Black", I feel like I'm a kid again. I feel reborn.
As I pedal myself and feel the cool wind of Harlow in my face, smoothly gliding under the sun, I feel renewed and ecstatic at some point. There's the freedom, it simulates flying, and I know that I AM in control.
Yes, shallow as it may seem. But with homesickness just a knock away, remember that whenever I ride BattleHopper, you'd be seeing Reigun, the vengeful 12 year old adventurer telling Mr. AkyatBahayGang Member :
" I got a better bike than you, belat!!!"

Nice new "old" bike. XD I want a new bike too. I won't care if it's secondhand. :3 But I want those Japanese bikes. Y'know, with a basket in front. HAHA~ then imma ride it wearing a short pleated skirt. ^.^
ReplyDeleteNaiinggit ako sa mga marunong magbike kasi wala akong sense of balance sa katawan kaya hindi ako natuto. All I did was "angkas" on my friend's bikes. =)
