8 Things Why Manila > London

A MAÑILENO'S LONDON ODYSSEY : 2

Ok, hold those eyebrows from raising and keep those jaws from dropping. Even though it's like comparing apples and oranges, I will try to present an unbiased attempt to compare a 3rd-world Asian capital to a 1st-world global city.

As I have mentioned in my previous blog of A Mañileno's London Odyssey: 1, I will provide a unique perspective as I have both lived and worked in these culturally-rich and diverse mega-cities.

London could give you some empty feels.

It is true that the more you explore, visit and travel a foreign place, you would get to know yourself and your homeland more. Be it both positively and negatively.

Here are just some of the things why Manila > London.

8. In Manila: you can use various forms of transport anywhere, anytime.

Pedicab, tricycle, jeep, taxi, bus, fx, MRT, LRT, PNR.

7. In London, major shops, malls, restaurants close by 6-9 PM. In Manila, up until midnight, some even until the wee hours of the morning.

6. In Manila, you can buy food from almost everywhere. Every street corner, there'll be a little 'sari-sari' store. Carinderias and food stalls are all over the place.

5. In Manila, beer is better. In terms of price and taste. Pulutan is better too.

Here's an actual taste test.

4. In Manila, you can play basketball anywhere, anytime.

3. In Manila, there is no winter. Don't get me wrong, snow can be fun but figuring out how many layers of clothing to wear daily is a nightmare.

2. In Manila, there is McDonald's delivery 24/7. There's no such thing in London.

1. Jollibee. There is no such thing in London. :(

--------

If you have any more in mind, or disagree with some in the list, please let me know!

For what it's worth, it's all about perspective. I appreciate every opportunity each city presents.
Never forget where you came from as it shaped and made you who you are today.

I can be out of Manila for a long time, but Manila will never be absent in me.
