Blasphemy! Why CDs And Vinyl Records Are Better Than Digital Files

Digital music consumption is the order of the day. Everywhere you look, you see people listening to music through headphones and earphones. Their iPod or smartphone is one of the most important things in their lives, and that is a fact. The music purists among you will die a little inside when you realize the change. Why? You die a little because you know that digital files just don’t cut it when it comes to music. Any music lover should know that CDs and vinyl records are better than music files. And, if you don’t, here are a few reasons to make you reconsider.

They Sound Better

Digital music goes through an enhancement stage where every piece of it is modified to make the ‘perfect’ track. The problem with this procedure is that the music loses a bit of its soul. Sure, it is as clean a piece of music as you will find. But, it is stale and sterile. CDs and vinyl records are different, especially vinyl. When you hear a vinyl record, you suddenly feel the music. You can feel the heart and soul of the record, and it is amazing. Plus, record players give off a sound that is hard to replicate.

Easier To Keep Safe

Okay, they aren’t as easy to collect, and they might cost more, but they are safe. Your iTunes or music discography isn’t safe, not in today’s day and age. All it takes is one hacker to wriggle through your defenses, and you’re vulnerable. They can do whatever they want, and you can’t do anything about it but limit the damage.

Also, music can just disappear without a word of notice thanks to bugs and viruses. Physical music is different. Unless a thief enters your home or there is a natural incident, it is as safe as your house. You can even duplicate and replicate it with Nationwide Disc just to be sure. No one wants to build a collection to lose it all at once.

Better Quality

Whether you like it or not, physical music is a lot more exclusive. To put out a CD or a body of work physically, you need a label and distributor. Infamously, these are very hard to come across unless you have the right contacts. Digital music is different because anyone can put out a body of work over the internet.

Sure, you might find a few diamonds in the rough. For the most part, though, you will have to trawl through a lot of garbage. CDs and vinyl don't work like that because artists have to be good to get a deal. Record labels won’t waste their time on anyone.

Look The Part

Some might say that music is about listening to the music. Others, though, will disagree. Music is more than listening – it is about seeing too. There is no denying that a fleet of album covers is a beautiful sight. In fact, it is so nice that people use them to decorate their homes. You can’t do that with digital music because they are files on your computer. When it comes to the aesthetics, physical music wins hands down.
