Human’s are creatures of habit, especially when it comes to how we look. Guys tend to find something that works for them and stick with it, way longer than they should. But a bit of self-reinvention is good for the soul. Changing your luck can boost your self-confidence, change the way people see you, and really reflect your personality.
Read on for five ways to change your look.
Change you hairstyle
If you’ve had the same hairstyle since university, it’s definitely time for a change. Get online and find some inspiration. Book a consultation with a good barber or stylist, they’ll be able to give you the best advice on what hairstyles will work with your face shape and hair texture. They’ll also be able to give you advice on keeping looking good too.
Think about what kind of facial hair you want too. Clean-shaven, designer stubble or hipster beard? If you are planning on growing a beard, take care of it as you would your hair so it doesn’t end up all straggly and knotted. Trim it regularly and use good quality beard oil like the one from Balm House. There are so many products on the market for beards now, you’ll find one that works for you.
Find Your Fashion Muse
Not everyone has an eye for fashion, or what looks good on them. Luckily for you, Instagram was made for things like this. You might want to channel your favourite influencer, actor or footballer. OK, so you probably don’t have the budget for what they’re wearing, but you can take inspiration from them when building your new wardrobe.
Don’t be afraid to experiment
If you live your life in baggy jeans and t-shirt’s, it can be daunting to step out of your comfort zone. Experiment by bringing in items gradually, such as a different cut of jeans, or swapping out the t-shirt for a more formal one. Try different colours, materials and textures and see what works on you.
Don’t forget accessories either, you don’t want to spoil your new look with a worn pair of shoes or a bag.
Style never goes out of fashion
On-trend fashion is often here one minute, gone the next. In fact, most styles you will probably look back on in a few years and wonder ‘what on earth was I thinking’. If you’re looking to avoid trying to keep up with the constantly changing fashion trends, stick to the classics, which never go out of fashion. These include well-cut suits, jeans and t-shirts. They should be good quality and fit you well. They will probably cost a little more but won’t be out of style in a matter of months.
Don’t force it
While you do want to break yourself out of a style rut, you still want to be comfortable in your own skin (and clothes). Even the most stylish outfit can be undone by a total lack of confidence in the person wearing it.
